Incense Turibulum - Ceramic

$15.00

Our incense offering holder takes inspiration from Roman Turibulum.

A Turibulum is an incense burner used in household worship throughout Roman history. It holds hot coals, onto which powdered, or resin incense is put on them to give off smoke. The coals were also used to burn small offerings such as bits food or flowers and other sacred plants to transform all manner of items from solid form into an ethereal form by consuming them with fire.
We offer a variety of non-burnable containers (clay, stone or metal), and provide a non-burnable substance for the coals/incense to rest on, absorbing heat and preventing scorching your altar surface or burning your hand.

We suggest a well-ventilated area for your Turibulum, well away from flammable substances and out of reach of little hands and paws.

We also supply the classic "incense burner charcoals" but you can purchase these at many stores.
Each Turibulum is handmade and comes with an instruction zine that describes how to best use it and prolong the life of your incense.
